Clay Parker, President

Mr. Parker joined Southport Capital in 2001.  He began his investment career at Merrill Lynch in 1996 and also served as Vice President of Trust Investments at SunTrust Bank.  Before initiating his investment career, Mr. Parker enjoyed success as a Major League baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, and Seattle Mariners. He received a Bachelor’s in General Education from Louisiana State University where he played football and baseball for the Tigers.

Curt Seiler, Investment Officer, Money Manager

Mr. Seiler served as the President and Chief Investment Officer of Southport Capital from 2001 - 2008.  Before that, he managed over $550 million in assets as head of Trust Investments for SunTrust Bank and began his investment career in 1987 as a financial consultant with Merrill Lynch.  Prior to becoming an investment professional, Mr. Seiler spent 21 years in the United States Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from William Carey College and earned a Masters in Public Administration from California Lutheran University. Mr. Seiler cuurently serves as vice preisdent of Southport Capital.

James W. Woods, Jr., Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Woods joined Southport Capital in 2008.  He began his investment career at Merrill Lynch in 1981. He has had an extensive career of money management at Bear Sterns, Shearson Lehman Brothers, Cralin & Co., Inc., Robinson-Humphrey Co., LLC, CIBC World Markets Corporation, with his last nineteen years being spent at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia.

Darold C. Brooks, CFP

Mr. Brooks has more than 35 years experience as a financial advisor and portfolio manager to families, institutions and corporate investors throughout the southeast. He is a certified financial planner and was most recently associated with Oppenheimer & Co in Atlanta. In addition to his CFP certification, Darold holds a Bachelor of Science in Business administration and Master of Business degrees. He will receive a Master of Science in Management with concentrations in International Management and Human Resource Management in December 2010. 

Donald R. Tomlin, CFA

Mr. Tomlin founded Southport Capital in 1991.  Prior to the formation of Southport, he held a variety of portfolio management and equity research positions with several blue chip firms including Goldman Sachs and Liberty Corporation.  With over forty years of investment experience, Mr. Tomlin is a CFA Charterholder and a Fellow in the Financial Analyst Federation.  He received a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
